We love covering ALL the Best Ball formats. In fact, we think there are real edges in the other Best Ball formats like Superflex, Marathon, Sprint, Eliminator, etc.

Superflex might be my favorite format of Best Ball, and one I’ve had some success. So, I wanted to share strategies for how I like to attack Underdog’s Superflex contests.

I think more people are intrigued by the Superflex Best Ball format, but I think a lot of people play it incorrectly. There are still edges to find in Superflex Best Ball.

Over the past two years, I’ve had a great advance rate in Superflex on Underdog, and I had three Superflex Finals in 2024 and one Superflex Final in 2025. I finished 15th in the German Shepherd Superflex last year.

So what edges can we push in Superflex Best Ball? Below, I will look at the differences in the format and how you should structure and draft your team to take advantage of those differences.

Structure Differences:

Starting Positions:

In our normal Underdog drafts, we are used to starting 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, and 1 Flex (RB, WR, or TE).

Here in these Superflex tournaments, we end up with the same number of starters, but the positions are different. Now it is 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 Flex (RB, WR, or TE), and 1 Superflex (QB, RB, WR, or TE).

This is a major difference in two ways. First, allowing a Superflex roster spot enables you to start two quarterbacks every week, and it drastically increases the importance of the position (see below).

Second, by taking away a starting wide receiver position, it dramatically reduces the need or importance of wide receivers. Both in terms of quality and quantity.

I’m going to break down each position below, but there are also shifts in how to handle running back and tight end in this format as well. Just one little change in the starting roster will totally shift your draft and roster construction.
